Realtor In Singapore
In Singapore, a realtor is merely a real estate agent who has undergone various tests and certification by the housing management authorities of the government. For instance, a realtor in Singapore has to undergo the Common Examination for Housing Agents, known as the CEHA certification. In this exam, they are taught for about two months on financial matters, legal matters in the real estate context and the code of conduct they should have as professional agents. It is upon passing this examination that the real estate agent is officially certified to be a realtor in Singapore.
A good realtor in Singapore should be in a position to give you more than direct advice on property. He should not only be the one who shows you where to get a piece of property and awaits a commission when the job is done; a mere unqualified real estate agent will do this.
However, a realtor in Singapore should give the buyer more than he has bargained for. This includes advice on loans and mortgages, legal advice and representation. Also, geographical advice is a must. A good realtor in Singapore should be able to show you around the best places to choose property from.
He should therefore have wide and deep knowledge of Singapore. Therefore, this realtor should have a passion for knowing the best locations. This is especially so because no investor would want to buy property in place, A only to realize a month after the transaction that there are similar properties in places B, C, D and E that are a million times better placed.
A realtor in Singapore should also work for a good company, which is certified by the government to do real estate work. The best companies are usually listed online, and finding one should not be a major task. Also, the charges given by the realtor should be indicative of the type of service you expect from them. Are they too cheap? Think twice. Being extremely cheap means that the agent is only trying to get customers, and that the services they offer leave much to be desired.
However, this doesn’t license the Singapore realtors to be very expensive. Comparison of charges between different companies or agencies of the same class should give you a rough figure of the charges you expect to be fair yet worth the service.
