Becoming Permanent Resident In Singapore
When you want to become a permanent resident in the Singapore, then you have to know that you will be required to apply for permanent resident ID card before 30 days pass from the time you have been approved. Every child who is under the age of 15 will not be required to apply for the ID; however for every child who has more than 15 years, will have to apply for his own permanent ID card. If you have a permanent resident ID card, and you have to change the Address in Singapore, then you have to let the SIR know about address you have moved to.
The following are the benefits you will enjoy when if you succeeded in becoming a permanent resident in Singapore. You will be able to borrow up to 80% in Singaporean Bank, when you want a mortgage for a new home. The employer will be contributing 16% of the total salary for you in the CPF fund. When you have been approved as Singapore permanent resident you can look for a new job in Singapore when you are not happy with your current job in terms of satisfaction or salary. If you lose your job, when you are a permanent resident you can apply for another one without having to get any other approval from the authority. Your children who are under the age of 21 years who are still single can apply for permanent residency in Singapore based on your permanent residency status. This also applies for your old parents in case you want to live with them in Singapore, they can get a visa for long term visit in Singapore.
In Singapore people who becoming permanent resident in Singapore, have to pass through National service, some people refuse to apply for the permanent residency basing them on this. Others can also terminate their status in order for not attending the National service. However if you want to reapply for the permanent residency in Singapore you will be required to undergo the service if you did not attend in the first place. When you want to cancel your permanent residency status, then you can also withdraw the money that you have contributed to the CPF. Before the withdraw, you have first to cancel your entry pass and present your Passport to CPF Board as a proof that you are no longer a permanent resident. The money will then be transferred to your account, however if you would like to get your money in cash, then you will be given an invoice of OUB bank. The whole process may be finished in just 10 days.
When you want to withdraw the money from the CPF you have to make sure that you are not likely to come back in Singapore or to ask for Singapore permanent resident again. When you come back you will be required to refund the money in the CPF with its interest.
