Applying For Singapore Permanent Residence
Before applying for Singapore permanent residence, first get to know what will mean for you to get a permanent residence. If you become a permanent resident in Singapore, there are some obligation you have to fulfill as an permanent resident.
Normally you may be allowed to become a permanent residence depending on the employment and the job you have in Singapore. Singapore requires every permanent resident to undergo National service, and every male child who reaches the age of 16 years and half. In Singapore the first generation male with permanent residency can be relieved of attending the National Services. In a country like USA it is a must for every permanent resident to attend the National services, if the person do not attend it may become a hindrance when he want to apply for citizenship.
When you are give a permanent residence in some cases you may lose it if you do not follow the regulations and rules provided for permanent residents, for example if you are a permanent resident you do not have to stay outside the country for 2 years.
If a permanent resident do something to endanger the security of the citizens and that of the country the decision of permanent residence may be revoked. When you begin applying for Singapore permanent residence, you have to remember that it may be one way of getting a citizenship if you wish to have it in the future. Some countries may provide citizenship trough naturalization for people who are permanent residents. Depending on the country, some country may let you to remain with the citizenship you had before, therefore becoming a citizen of the two countries, this is known as double citizenship. However the country is the one to decide if you have to be given the citizenship or not according to how you have stayed in the country and how you contributed to the betterment of the country.
In Singapore there are no limit of years that one can apply for the permanent resident, however some countries may require that the people who are applying for permanent resident pass some minimum years before applying. Applying for Singapore permanent residence is the easiest according to other countries as far as you will be an asset for the country.
If you are guaranteed the permanent residence in Singapore, you will be given an ID card as a proof for your permanent resident status, however some countries can stamp inside the passport or give you a sticker to use in the passport. You can also be given a letter as a proof that you are now a permanent resident. After applying for Singapore permanent residence, you have to wait the result at your home. In case you are approved you will be given a Blue card including your name, your photo, and your thumbprint. In countries like Australia or New Zealand, you will be given a sticker to use inside the passport, and in Malaysia the permanent residents are given an ID called MyPR
